Meet our new cheder head teacher

Agnieszka Zapala (Agi) will be starting as our new cheder head teacher in September.

For the past three years Agi has worked as a youth leader at the Wimbledon Synagogue where she collaborated very closely with their cheder. That position allowed Agi to gather interesting approaches to supporting the youngest members in their exploration of Judaism and to promoting progressive values.

“I have really enjoyed being able to share my love of Judaism through leading children’s services, and other activities, that make children feel fully involved in their community’s life, so as to build positive Jewish memories. I love the ‘let’s all learn together’ approach and I often learn something new while teaching the kids!”

Apart from being engaged in Progressive Jewish education, Agi is mum to a two year old and is also a children’s book illustrator. She was recently selected as a winner of an international illustration competition and will be featured in the Walker Books catalogue at the Children’s Books Festival in Bologna next year.
