L’Chaim

Celebrate the arts with BRS in 2026. ‘L’Chaim’ is our year of celebration of Jewish culture, community and life.

We are planning one major event each month such as an audience with Howard Jacobson in May and the Maccabiah sports event in November.

There will be numerous other smaller events encompassing visual and performance arts, reading, writing, dance, food and sport. Some will be in our own building, others at external venues better suited to the activity.

Upcoming events

We have a concert on 18 April, ‘The (Jewish) American Songbook’ celebrating songs from composers including Gershwin, Richard Rodgers and Irving Berlin.

On 7 May we have An Audience with Howard Jacobson (in conversation with Rabbi Laura and Judy Woolfe).

Opening day

Our opening day on 17 January 2026 comprised:

• An afternoon of workshops
• A Dish with a Story. We invited everyone to bring food with a special significance for them, to share its story and recipe.
• A Gala Opening Event with entertainment from our house band, Kles’Ore.
