Maimonides was a medieval Spanish-Egyptian rabbi, philosopher and physician. A prolific writer, Maimonides wrote that Judaism at its best was a reasonable, rational faith. He was dismissive of attempts to turn religion into superstitious belief, believing that religion at its best was intellectually honest and compelling.
