Ronnie Goldberg

How do you like to be known?
Ronnie

Where do you live?
Beckenham, which is a little bit of an oddity, since I was born and brought up in Liverpool, and Gloria, my wife, lived in Stanmore when we met, but we made a lot of friends when we came to Bromley, and continue to see most of them.

What are your interests and hobbies?
Social bridge, the Shul, theatre, music, word games, foreign travel.

Nature of current or previous employment:?
I am a solicitor, formerly a specialist in commercial property. Having retired from full-time private practice in 2002, I took a position in late 2007 as in-house legal adviser to a finance company in Hampstead Garden Suburb, working three days a week. I also do occasional lecturing on legal topics.

Any skills or interests you would be interested in participating in with other members?
I enjoy teaching B’nei Mitzvah, participating in quizzes and generally being an active member of the Synagogue.

Family members?
We have a son, Justin, who lives near Bristol, and a daughter, Julia, who lives in Coulsdon and remains a member of the Synagogue. We also have a grandson (Justin’s) and a granddaughter (Julia’s) whom we idolise, and try to see as much as possible.

Any other information you would like to share with members?
Although I passionately believe in the value and importance of the Synagogue, I am agnostic in my personal beliefs. I take comfort from Rabbi Hammond’s acceptance of personal agnosticism.
