Brian Abraham
What is your name? Brian Abraham
How do you like to be known? Brian
Where do you live?I live in Crofton Park, Brockley, London SE4. I live here with my flatmate Ed and our two Yorkshire Terrier dogs, George and Gilbert.
What are your interests and hobbies?I like reading and writing, the pc, cooking and, of course, eating - although not too much. I’m interested in psychology and mental health issues of a general nature.
What is the nature of your current or previous employment?I’m a former Unit Manager in Social Services, working with older people with mental illness and physical disability. I’ve worked mainly in the public statutory sector with adolescents in care, older mentally ill and physically ill people in residential, day and community settings. I also did some work within the voluntary sectors of the community in paid employment.
Are there any skills or interests you would be interested in participating in with other members?I very much like communicating with people, talking and listening to others’ views, concerns and interests and so on. I enjoy artwork and used to make my own candles as a hobby, although I’ve not done this for some time now. I’m always willing, even if not always able, to lend a hand anywhere needed. I make it my business to make time for others and am always available to lend a sympathetic ear when the need arises.
Who are your family members?I have one brother, James, who lives with his wife and other family in Liverpool. He has three children, two grown-up daughters and one son. He is a grandfather to seven grandchildren.
Is there any other information you would like to share with members? I’ve been attending Bromley Reform Synagogue now for about seven years, on and off, and can be seen on rare occasions. I’ve been a member for about two years. I also am a Committee Member of Thanet and District Reform Synagogue, Ramsgate, and a regular attendee when down in Kent. I also hope to be seen more often at Bromley Shul in the very near future.
