As you will probably have seen, the Government announced a new policy this afternoon. You can read here about Guidance on social distancing for everyone in the UK and protecting older people and vulnerable adults. BRS will be following Government guidance, which is aimed at avoiding non-essential travel and contact with others. We have been developing contingency plans for this and it is now appropriate to put them in place.
AGM – The AGM is postponed to later in the year.
Saturday Services – Services will continue in an online/streamed format only. Members should not come to Highland Road for services. Please subscribe to our YouTube channel to be notified when services are live, which will be at the normal time.
Communal Seder – The Seder is cancelled. We are considering options for offering support. We will process refunds in due course.
Cheder – there will be no cheder for the last two weeks of term. Cheder will restart on Sunday 19 April through virtual classrooms. Teachers will be briefed, lessons will be planned, and parents will be asked to join various Skype groups. More details will be circulated soon.
Rabbinic Candidate visits – These have been cancelled, and services and study sessions will not take place.
Social Centre – this is cancelled until further notice.
Caring community – The Caring Community Group have been identifying those who might wish to receive support (in whatever form), and who might be able to help give support. We have been touched by the overwhelming generosity shown by the more than twenty cheder parents that have volunteered to help in their area. If you would like to receive or offer support, please email Michelle Brooks Evans.
Please adhere to government guidance, stay safe and look out for each other. We are a wonderful community. Senior Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner said it well in a short message she posted online.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
