The Social Centre held its very popular Summer Party on Wednesday, 22 August.

As shown on the menu placed on each festive table, the party proper was preceded by gentle exercises professionally led by Andreas, after which a delicious lunch was served, beginning with poached salmon and salad accompaniments, followed by fruit salad with cheesecake and ice cream, and washed down by tea or coffee. The day happened to coincide with the birthday of Grace, who blew out her candles on the cake presented by Barbara. Barbara’s granddaughter – another Grace – had made the cheesecake and was naturally invited to join the party.

The lunch was followed by a musical entertainment provided by the violinist Adrian Garrett, who had been asked along by Eva, the oldest daughter of the late Ruth Young, in memory of her mother, a regular attender at the Social Centre, who passed away last year. Adrian proved to have a very wide repertoire and willingly played nearly every request.

Special thanks are due to the Social Centre helpers under the very able leadership of Dianne, who both served the delicious lunch and organised the whole event.
